At Optimus Language School, we want to be accessible for all of our overseas students. We are also aware of the steps that need to be taken, in order for our students who are trying to come to the United States to study. Overseas students may become overwhelmed when trying to understand the process to obtain their I-20 Visa, but Optimus Language School is here to help make this process a fairly easy one for prospective students who want to study in the United States. The following will include the steps in order to assure that opportunity.
There are 6 steps that are part of the process which Optimus Language School requires our prospective students to complete.
Step 1: Filling out our application for enrollment into the ESL program, providing a copy of your passport, and providing a certificate of bank balance of either you or your sponsor. The balance certificate must be made in English and must be at least $26,400 USD or more.
Step 2: After all 3 of these documents are received, you will receive an acceptance email and bank information in order to pay the necessary processing fees. The fees that are needed to be paid will cost $500 (payment method options are through a wire transfer or PayPal). Here’s the breakdown of fees: The SEVIS I-901 fee is $200 (before applying for an I-20 Visa, this fee must be paid), the OLS Application fee is $200, and the Express mailing fee is $100 (we mail through UPS).
Step 3: OLS will send an I-20 Form, an I-901 (receipt of SEVIS fee payment), and the Acceptance Letter by international mail, once the application form and required documents are received, and the eligibility requirements are confirmed.
Step 4: Visit https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/ to fill out the DS-160 Nonimmigrant Visa Application. You will need your passport, I-20 Form, and information about the dates of your last 5 visits to the United States (if applicable). All answers that you provide on the DS-160 must be made in English. After you complete your Nonimmigrant Visa Application, you will then need to make an appointment for your Visa interview with the U.S. Embassy or Consulate.
Step 5: First, print out your DS-160 Form because there is an application number on it that you will need. You will also need you SEVIS ID# which you can find on your I-20 Form. Then go to http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ to set up your visa interview. Second, you will pay your interview fee online. Each country has its own way of paying this fee. Once you have paid your interview fee, you will be able to make your appointment online through your country’s special link.
Step 6: The Visa interview. When you go to your visa interview appointment, there are important documents that you will need to bring with you. They are: your interview appointment letter from the National Visa Center (NVC), a valid passport, 2 color passport photos (measuring 2 inches by 2 inches with a white background), your I-20 Form, your I-901 fee receipt, bank statements, confirmation of your completed visa application, and your school admission letter of acceptance.
We know there are many steps to take in order to obtain your I-20 form, and we are here to help our students in any way that we can. If you have any questions at all or want sample questions that you may face on your visa interview, please feel free to email us at Optimus Language School. Our email address is email@example.com. Good luck, and we hope to see you at our Language School!
