No Rolling Enrollment

No Rolling Enrollment

Rolling enrollment allows students to enroll at any time during the year. Students can start and end class whenever they want. At AELS, we have a no enrollment policy. We enforce this policy for many reasons, but the main reason is that rolling enrollment can hinder your English learning experience.

Starting a new class can be stressful or scary. It can be even more stressful when you are in a different county. We want students to be comfortable in their class and not afraid to participate and practice their English speaking skills. That is why the first couple of days are about students getting to know each other and becoming comfortable. When students can enroll in the class at any time, they can miss the getting to know you stage. When you are the only new student, it can be intimidating and prevent you from wanting to participate. We want every student to feel confident enough to speak in class, and students can't be when their classmates are constantly changing.

Another reason we do not allow rolling enrollment is that students are likely to fall behind or interrupt their classmates. Our curriculum is a 12-week course designed for students to take from the beginning. If a student misses weeks of information since they can enroll at any time, they will easily fall behind. They will not know the previous material, so students will fall behind, feel left out, or interrupt the class with questions. Teachers will try to catch new students up, but it is not fair to the other students who will have to keep going over previous material. For these reasons, to give students the best English learning experience, we enforce a no rolling enrollment policy.
