AELS Attendance Policy

AELS Attendance Policy

American English Language School wants our students to succeed in every possible venture that they set their minds on. At AELS, we also want our students to want to be as serious and hardworking about their English education as we there. Therefore, we have an attendance policy that requires our F-1 students to come to school 20 hours a week and maintain an 80% attendance rate. If the students are failing to meet this requirement, we give them a warning about the issue. If the problem of attendance continues, we will be forced to terminate their visa.

Attendance is extremely beneficial to a great English education in a variety of ways. When students come to class prepared and well rested, they will have a better chance of becoming a better English speaker. If students come to class every day, they will be able to speak more in class, learn new words, and be more comfortable in a class environment. Our small group ratio class encourages our student a more individualized experience with our teachers. They will be able to have their sentences corrected and have a more intimate relationship with their teacher and their classmates. This closeness allows our students to feel more comfortable about using English instead of worrying about making mistakes in front of others. In order for this experience to take place, students need to be present in class.

We understand that some of our students are not F-1 students and don’t have this requirement. However, in order to be an active and participating member in the classroom, we encourage these students to also meet the requirement to better their English learning and to be at the same level as their peers. Attendance is extremely important for a student’s learning and understanding in their English education.
